Setting is post-Currents, and Jack is in some unnamed elsewhere. I suspect the crew of the Pearl stumbled upon the Sandwich Islands before James Cook. A drabble is fic of exactly 100 words. Written in Key West, with muses loud on the beach, the wind in my hair, the waves nearly close enough to touch, the sand between my toes. Sand there is whiter than the Pacific, and the tang in the air is more verdant and more laden with decay.

This one's special. To say I was nervous about this story would be the understatement of the year. My hand was held, and my prose was tweaked, and much improvement and encouragement was handed to me by estellongshanks, the_stowaway, ponderosa121, pir8fancier, and fabu. Summary: Setting very shortly post-film. A series of drabbles of exactly 100 words, and um... a smutfest. This story references certain events in The Errors of Lieutenant James Norrington.

Gibbsy is teh hawt boy. sizzle Summary: Jack has left the ship to acquire supplies, and Gibbs and Will are left to repair the damage made by the storm. Infinite Gratitude: This was inspired by a post on the pirategasm list, complaining of the overused conventions in sexual writing in Pirates Fandom. I took this as a challenge, to use as many of the words or phrases that were forbidden, as possible. Of a possible 61 words, I only missed 2 phrases, for a total of 13 words, I think. Thanks to PONDY, KJ, and JUNI, my late-nite ~~PST~~ PDT crew. Dammit. I just lost an hour of writing time, to the time-change.

Norrington faces the challenge of handing out promotions when one has more than one worthy lieutenant. Infinite Gratitude: estellongshanks is my anchor and the wind in my sails. He keelhauled this one so much and so often, from the first musings on plot line to the final "you left out a quotation mark", that there ended up being entire sections of the story that were actually written by him. So he's not credited as beta, but rather as co-author. Smooches, darling. Then, it received its final fluff&polish from ceria_taliesin. Credit goes to inkbug for Groves' sister, Mary, and her engagement, though I warped it a bit for my own purposes. However, credit goes to her, entirely Inkadinkadoodle's idea, in her own fic. WHICH SHE SHOULD FINISH. nudge I WANNA SEE THAT GROVES, JU. Authors Notes: Written for the PoTC Tertiary Character ficathon. I nearly invariably use "Ellis" as Groves' given name, and I think of Gillette as "Andrew". But these incarnations of the characters have a backstory in my deep psyche that conflicts with the plot of this one. For one thing, the Andrew Gillette in my head is Straight as a board, and really Nasty Sonuvabitch, to boot. And Ellis is only interested in Pirates, and would never bed another Navy man. So I had to trick the old subconscious, and give then new names. "Harold," I realized after naming him, comes from Damien O'Hare, the actor who played him. And of course Theodore is well entrenched in fanon by now.

A/N: The poem above is a snippet from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". This site has a lovely illustrations-included online version of the entire work. I'm rather fond of it. This one really got away from me. It started out a chained drabble series (first five are 100 even, except for the one drabble-and-a-half of 150). Then it lost all form and galloped for the hills. I swear, I really tried to make this be a little Jack/Will waterfall PWP, but Her Ladyship hijacked Will to her own purposes. Maybe someday I'll be able to write gay smut again.

This one, by nature of the setting, turned out to be a bit melancholy. Also, This isn't the most complex Will Turner I've ever written, in part because I believe this moment in time is Will's point of greatest personal weakness. That's what makes Will such an endearing character, however. He has great strength, at times, and is truly flawed at other points. Oh, and I wrote this to the soundtrack to Chocolat, specifically "Main Titles", "Guillaume's Confession", "Ashes to the Wind", and "The Mayan Bowl Breaks".
